James is married to Cristy Hensley Dawson of Chattooga County. They reside on John Jones road in the Gore Community. They have five children: Lisa – 24, Kayla -24, Ashley -22, Ryan – 20, and Emily – 15. Cristy Dawson served with the Chattoooga County EMS service as an EMT/Paramedic for ten years. She is now employed Georgia Power at Plant Hammond in Rome. She also volunteers with the Chattooga County Pregnancy Resource Center where she serves as an ultra-sound tech. The Dawson’s are members of Grace Baptist Church. The Dawsons are very active in a wide variety of community and church related activities in Chattooga County.
